Combined Air & EANx Dive Tables

Scuba Schools International SSI

No-decompression limits and repetitive group designation table (metric)

How to use table 1. Insert the planned depth of your first dive of the day in metres of sea water (msw). No-decompression limit (NDL) is the number of minutes you are allowed to stay underwater. You may decide to decrease the number of minutes for adding safety. N2 or nitrogen pressure group (PG) is a letter in alphabet showing the theoretical amount of nitrogen in your tissues after the dive. O2 is the planned percentage of oxygen in your EAN tank. Normal air has 21% of oxygen. ppO2 shows the maximum planned partial pressure of oxygen in your mix (max 1.4). You will see an error message if any input or output ecceeds maximum limits.

How to use table 2. Insert the pressure group (PG) from table 1. Insert the surface interval in minutes. If instead of new PG after the surface interval the value is "no PG" you are clear of N2 and can plan your next dive. If surface interval is less than 10 minutes, the algorithm asks you to plan at least 10 minute interval. The resulting PG can be used to plan your repetitive dive in table 3.

How to use table 3. Insert the pressure group (PG) after interval from table 2, depth, time, O2. Residual Nitrogen Time (RNT) is number of minutes added to your planned dive time to calculate the next PG. For the next dives please repeat tables 2 & 3.

While planning your dives please remember that the table was designed for the US Navy divers. Recreational divers should use it conservatively, reducing time and/or depth of their actual dive as a precaution. Same as any other table or algorithm, this one doesn't guarantee that you will not get into decompression while using it.
