Try Scuba Diving

In case you don't have a diving certificate yet you may choose to try Discover Scuba Diving on a coral reef or in a pool to a depth of 12 meters and a duration of 60 minutes. You will get an unforgettable experience of interaction with the underwater world and its inhabitants and test yourself at this sport before starting the basic course Open Water Diver. Ideal as a whole family experience and available to non-swimmers.

Dive instructor Oleg conducts a detailed briefing in which you will learn all the information necessary for diving. This information is about how comfortable and safe:

  • cope with pressure change at depth
  • what to do if the mask is leaking
  • fetch and clear a regulator that has fallen out of your mouth
  • underwater communication signals
  • out of air procedure
  • how to enjoy safe interaction with the underwater world in the Maldives

The try dive is available from the age of 10. But this does not mean that diving should not be done earlier. From the age of 8, a child can dive up to 6 meters deep on a real coral reef with an instructor.

Basic Level

The basic course with an international Open Water Diver certificate is 4 scuba dives to a depth of 18 meters and a duration of up to 60 minutes, skills training in the pool and diving theory. We start with a test dive up to 12 meters on the first day of the course and increase the depth and duration of the dives as you master the skills of using diving equipment and self-rescue step by step in a comfortable and safe environment.

On the first dive, we will do just a few exercises for safety and devote the rest of the time to scuba diving in light conditions with maximum precautions. The dive is exactly the same as what we do on the discover scuba dive. Therefore, those who have already tried Discover Scuba Diving within 12 months and have a document confirming this can immediately start from the next step.

After the first open water dive, we will work on a series of exercises with elements of self-rescue, helping out other divers and acquire the buoyancy skills necessary for diving on coral reefs. The confined water exercises are divided into five parts that can be mastered in one dive or more (it all depends on you). We do the exercises in a pool or in a pool-like environment in a lagoon at a depth of no more than five meters.

The second open water dive allows you to apply the skills in real conditions at a depth of 12 meters. We dive from a boat in comfortable conditions. On a dive, we test the rescue and self-rescue skills obtained in confined water.

The third and fourth open water dives are performed at a depth of up to 18 meters. Previous skills and experience allow you to visit more interesting dive sites. These dive sites tend to have more beautiful corals. Species diversity and larger animals are also more likely.

After passing the theory exam, you will receive an international Open Water Diver certificate, with which you can dive around the world autonomously with a buddy partner. Since underwater conditions differ even on dive sites located next to each other, I recommend diving with a divemaster or instructor until you gain some experience. The Advanced Open Water course will help you with this a lot. You will make a deep dive (up to 30 meters) under the supervision of an instructor, improve your navigation skills with a compass and natural orientiers, and get a new interesting experience (and also an advanced certificate).

During or immediately after completing the basic course, you can additionally earn an Enriched Air Diver certificate and dive with oxygen-enriched breathing gas, increasing safety and time at depth.

After completing the basic course, you can simply dive with a certificate and admire the beauty of the underwater world. In the section certified diving you will find prices and conditions for diving, both from the shore and from the boat.

Advanced Level

Diving to a depth of 30 meters with the Advanced Open Water certificate can be learned in 5 dives after obtaining the basic Open Water Diver level. Under the guidance of an instructor, you do deep diving, drift diving, photo and video practice, boat diving and learn to identify various types of fishes and coral.

The experience gained during the advanced course shapes you as a diver and allows you to gain the necessary experience to dive with confidence in different conditions. Now you do not just follow the guide and watch fish under water, but do what you love - master photography and videography, conquer new depths, feel confident in a strong current, dive shipwrecks.

In order to spend more time at a depth of 22-25 meters, where the most interesting stuff is usually located, I highly recommend getting an Enriched Air Diver certificate and breathe nitrox. Nitrox is an air mixture with more oxygen than normal air. The entire Nitrox course can be done without getting up from the couch, as there is no underwater exercises.

Upon reaching a new level, you can and should dive from a boat to gain experience at new depths and in new conditions. In the section certified diving you will find prices and conditions for diving, both from the shore and from the boat.

Enriched Air Nitrox

A breathing mixture with an oxygen content of up to 40% will allow you to dive longer and get tired less. If you had to ascend because your no-decompression limit is over (and the others saw a manta ray / shark / turtle during this time), then it's time to take a theoretical course and stop missing priceless moments under water. It is not necessary to dive during the course, but it is possible to do two Enriched Air speciality dives under the guidance of an instructor. After passing the exam, you will receive an Enriched Air Nitrox Diver certification.

The course can be started even before receiving the basic certificate Open Water Diver, however the Nitrox certificate is valid only together with the already earned diving certificate from any federation. Spending just an hour of your time studying can significantly improve your diving. A Nitrox certificate is required for further technical diving training. The benefits of diving with oxygen-enriched mixes can be clearly seen in the EAN32 and EAN36 - two of the most common mixes available in almost every dive center in the world. To do this, simply compare the maximum bottom time for air and nitrox in the US Navy Dive Planner.
